Work progressing well on our Penygroes Adra site

27th October 2025

Work is progressing well on our site in Penygroes for Adra with the first timber frames installed on site this week provided by Lowfield Timberframes. Timber frame homes provide many benefits including energy efficiency, sustainability, speed of construction, and design flexibility. 

Delivery of a brand new Manitou Telehandler

27th October 2025

This week we took delivery of a brand new Manitou Telehandler from our long term suppliers Glyn Lloyd and Sons. The machine has been put to good use straight away on our site in Penygroes.

Academi M-SParc Work placement Opportunities

8th October 2025

John Kelly Construction are delighted to offer work placement opportunities for two of the Academi M-SParc members (Josh & Eliana) to develop their skills for employment.

From M-Sparc: "Our latest Academy members! Josh, Cai, Chisom, Owain and Eliana are employed by ourselves, but placed in industry for 6 months in order to develop their skills, grow their network, and be in a great position to gain employment at the end of the experience. Thanks to the companies making it happen, Eryri Consulting, John Kelly Construction, CELS, and IONA Minerals."

NHBC Pride in the Job Awards

Absolutely delighted that our Site Manager Rhun Williams has been awarded with the NHBC Seal of Excellence and the Wales Small Builder Regional Award at the Wales NHBC Pride in the Job Awards.  

These awards demonstrate exceptional leadership and commitment to the development of homes of the highest quality. 

Many congratulations to Rhun, and all the JK Team, suppliers and sub-contractors involved on the Bro Eglwys Development.

Lisa Graduates from Uni

15th July 2025

Congratulations to Lisa – Strategy Manager at John Kelly Construction who graduated with a doctorate at Aberystwyth University. Her thesis was entitled ‘The Perceptions of Career Success in the Construction Industry in Wales’. 

Women in Construction

11th July 2025

Lisa hosted workshops at the CITB Wales ‘Women in Construction' event alongside other North Wales companies to inspire young female pupils from local secondary schools to consider a career in construction.

In the John Kelly Construction activity 60 learners from Ysgol Uwchradd Bodedern, Ysgol Syr Hugh Owen and Ysgol Dyffryn Nantlle had the chance to the use remote control machines to simulate real-world construction tasks, learning about teamwork, coordination, and the role of machinery in modern construction.

Thank you to Gunn JCB Ltd for their kind donation of resources for the event and thank you to everyone at the CITB.

Saving ancient heritage

10th July 2025

As part of our work at Parc y Coleg, Bangor University we arranged for the removal and restoration of this antique heritage gate. 

The gate was refurbished and powder coated before being fitted in its new location at Treborth Botanical Gardens where it can be admired for years to come.

Parc y Coleg Re-Development

5th July 2025

John Kelly Construction recently completed the re-development of Parc y Coleg at Bangor University.
The key improvements to the park infrastructure include:
- a new accessible pathway across the park linking with Pontio.
- a new safer entrance off Deiniol Road linking to the city centre. 
- relocating the original historic gate to a protected setting in Treborth Gardens.
- creation of usable lawn areas to encourage new activities.
- provision of new lighting to improve safety after dusk.
- management and selective thinning of existing vegetation to open the views and improve safety along the footpaths.

As always, we are grateful to our excellent JK Team for their professionalism throughout the work and to our local suppliers and subcontractors for their skillful work on this project.
We look forward to seeing the whole community enjoying this place.

Bangor Cricket Club

1st July 2025

We always aim to make a positive difference in the communities where we work. We have re-surfaced the entrance to Bangor Cricket Club while working on the Parc y Coleg Bangor University project.

We hope that players and visitors will benefit from these improvements for many years to come.

Ysgol Bro Lleu Visit

27th June 2025

Lisa enjoyed a visit to Ysgol Bro Lleu, Penygroes this week with a gift of hard hats and high vis jackets for the infants' construction area and to plan how we can support the school while we're working on the Adra Ffrwd Carreg Wen development.
