John Kelly Construction were appointed principal contractor on this scheme for Castle Green Homes for the construction of the roads and sewers, and then as sub-contractor for the groundworks package. The project consisted of the construction of 350m of 5.5m wide adoptable standard highway to service 64 new dwellings in Denbigh, Denbighshire.

The challenges faced on this site were high voltage overhead cables crossing the site in various directions, we had to work around these cables for a period, divert the cables and build a new sub-station. Other challenges included the need for a 7m deep pump station in poor ground conditions, adjacent to neighbouring properties, John Kelly Construction designed and sunk a shaft to accommodate the pumpstation, this in turn removed the need for any temporary works to construct the pump station.

We also carried out 250m of rising main through a busy street, John Kelly Construction adopted the method of directional drilling as opposed to open cut trench, this allowed us to decrease the time from 6 weeks to 5 days. We also carried out extensive 278 works.

John Kelly Construction continued on-site as sub-contractor to complete the groundworks for the whole project.
