John Kelly Construction were appointed principal contractor on this scheme for Bangor University to develop the College Park to become a more usable space for students and local residents.

The key improvements to the park infrastructure included the development of a new accessible pathway across the park linking with Pontio, a safer entrance off Deiniol Road linking to the city centre, the relocation of the original historic gate to a protected setting in Treborth Gardens, the creation of usable lawn areas to encourage new activities, provision of new lighting to improve safety after dusk and the management and selective thinning of existing vegetation to open the views and improve safety along the footpaths.

Our main activities included:

  • Existing site entrance modifications.
  • New Pathways & refurbishment of existing paths.
  • Construction of new steps and accessible ramps.
  • Installation of new street furniture.
  • Removal of some existing trees.
  • Way finding signage.
  • Soft planting.
  • Hard landscaping.

The project predominantly involved landscaping works to the existing college park and the careful co-ordination of specialist contractors to deliver this high-profile scheme
