Mostyn Street Enhancement Scheme Phase 1

John Kelly Construction Services Limited (JKCS) were appointed principal contractor on this scheme for Conwy County Borough Council.

This scheme was an EU funded town centre regeneration scheme. This scheme is the first phase of the Mostyn Street enhancement project. This phase was located on Mostyn Street (between the road junctions of A546 and St.
Georges Place), Llandudno, Conwy. The area is classed as the main shopping centre, with shops/ businesses on both sides of the carriageway. The scheme concentrates on improvements to the north eastern side of Mostyn Street. This scheme was
programmed in phases that would minimise disruption to local businesses but would not affect desired outputs on site.

Early engagement of stakeholders was key to the planning/ programming stage of this scheme. Letter drops took place well in advance of the works which invited business owners to contact the Contracts Manager or Site Manager. The CM/ SM would meet each business owner to go through the scheme in as much detail as required. JKCS created good working relationships on site and this attitude towards collaboration ensured that the scheme was delivered without any complaint or claim.

There were minimal additional works or amendments to the scope which meant the scheme was delivered within the programmed period to a very high standard. The collaborative working relationship between the client and JKCS was key to ensuring the product delivered was of the highest standard possible with very little change to the original contract sum.
