John Kelly Construction Services Limited were appointed as principal contractor for the work package of site set up, all foundations, roads and sewers, cut and fill, services, drainage, retaining walls, section 38 works, 278 works, attenuation basins and all finishing works on a development of 49 new dwellings. The site was situated in a sensitive area, meaning that we had to ensure that all provisions were in place to avoid disruption to the adjoining special needs school and current dwellings. The site was of archaeological interest on a watch and brief status. Due to SUDs provisions various attenuation basins were implemented into the design and joined by 45m of PCC culverts. The site also presented logistical challenges in accessing the works involving the construction and maintenance of temporary access roads in soft ground.
